About our Agency

In 1968, Peter Hayes began Hayes Insurance Agency out of the kitchen of his Adrian home. He engaged in direct telephone solicitation to generate valued customers. By 1971, Pete had enough clientele to rent a small office for his business on Occidental Highway. He provided property, casualty, and small commercial insurance initially; however, a few years later obtained his Life Insurance License. The agency continued to grow through the years and has serviced the needs of Lenawee County for over 35 years.

Today, it is a family operated business. Pete's wife, Judy, and his son, Steve, are both licensed agents with the company, representing several fine insurance companies and offering a full-line of insurance products and services.

Community Involvement

Peter Hayes has always been concerned regarding the affairs of Lenawee County. He is one of the founders of G. Chandler Bond Post #275 in Adrian and is currently the Finance Officer. In 1988, he envisioned and helped establish the first baseball team sponsored by Post #275. Today, he continues to participate in the administration of Post #275 Baseball.

In addition, he has strongly supported education, serving on the Board of Education for 12 years for Adrian Public Schools. Today, he continues to support notable charities in the area including Relay for Life, Bixby Medical Center, and the Lenawee Humane Society.
